"Tonight Show" & Jay Leno Hit with Budget Cuts
After years on late night television Jay Leno is still not immune to receiving a pay cut.
According to reports, NBC's "Tonight Show" and the 62-year-old host are facing a significant salary cut. The program is reportedly releasing more than 20 staff members and will reduce its budget from $2.3 million to $1.7 million.
Jay's current salary is between $25-$30 million and he apparently accepted the cut in order to help his "wonderful" workers.
Bruce Bobbins, a spokesman for the "Tonight Show," released a statement, reading, "Jay's foremost concern is for the wonderful people who work for 'The Tonight Show.' He did what was necessary to ensure their well-being."
The late night comedian will still earn an estimated $20 million each year.
